We normally open up our little chai brewery on the first Sunday of every month for our tasting room, but it’s the holiday season, so we’re open EVERY SUNDAY UNTIL CHRISTMAS!
Come join us to taste all of our chai blends, enjoy holiday treats, get brewing tips, tour our facility, fill your containers with bulk loose leaf and strong brew chai, and generally enjoy the sights and scents of all the spices!
Here’s something we came up with this morning at breakfast. We were craving something appropriate for the brisk weather, comforting, filling, spicy and warm. Here’s what happened:
Pumpkin Chai Oatmeal
1 1/2 tsp finely ground Original Loose Leaf Chico Chai
(grind in a coffee grinder)
2 cups water
1/2 cup oatmeal
2 T pumpkin puree
2 T half & half
1 T maple syrup
Boil water in a pot, add pumpkin, chai and oatmeal. Turn down heat, cover and simmer 15 minutes. Add maple syrup and half and half and stir in. Makes one delicious serving.
(feel free to substitute any ingredients to suit your personal taste)
People often ask us if our chai is organic. Just for the record, every single one of our ingredients is organic, from the nutmeg to the vanilla beans. We don’t (yet) have a seal on our product because we haven’t prioritized spending money on the certification process. We do value this certification, and we plan on doing it in the future, but we’re still a small company and for us this is an expensive thing to do.
So right now we’re using our funds to purchase our high quality organic ingredients, since we want to support organic farmers and to make sure our chai is the best we can brew. Please give us a call or send us an email (or just ask us in person:) if you have any questions about organics.
This week, everybody on Team Chai was able to take little vacations in different places. Between South Carolina, Oregon and Northern California, we all took little breathers.
As much as we love our jobs, it’s good to remember that taking time off stimulates creativity and gives us time to reflect on just how truly lucky we are.
We’ll all be back in the kitchen by the end of the week in time to brew lots of chai for the beginning of fall (aka: chai season:)
Currently part time, increasing as the business grows
Starting wage: $11/hr
You will be:
Primarily: Driving our van to deliver chai to accounts in Chico and beyond, actively seeking new wholesale accounts and maintaining a positive relationship with existing accounts.
Also: Working at our booth at the Saturday Farmers Market (preparing chai, passing out samples, explaining chai to customers, breaking down booth, cleaning up after market), possibly brewing chai, miscellaneous office and janitorial jobs (it’s a small business, so we all do a little bit of everything)
Open or flexible availability, fabulous driving skills (and a good record), the ability to lift 50 lbs, great customer service skills, an outgoing, positive attitude. A interest in learning new things and a willingness to do a variety of jobs. The ability to work independently, as well as with a small team. A passion for coffee/tea/food/the wide world of beverages, and a desire for a long-term relationship with our growing company.
This job requires hard physical work, some early mornings, long drives, some long days, working outdoors and getting sweaty, but you will work with an awesome team, you will have opportunities for job growth, enjoy fun tea adventures and you will always smell like chai.

Nine years ago, Sarah used to write the weekly chai orders on her hand and deliver them in her little station wagon. Now it takes a strong cup of tea and over an hour just to call all the wholesale accounts, delivering about 100 gallons using our chai van. (Luckily, there’s Team Chai to help with all this!) Thanks everyone so much for the love and support over the years!
We’d like to introduce you all to a very important member of Team Chai. Seana is our very first Outreach Coordinator, she organizes and runs our Farmers Market booths and helps us stay connected with our community. (And as usual in a teensy business like ours, she also does about a thousand other essential odd jobs around the chai brewery:)
Seana has a strong love of fashion, cactus and chai. She’s a hard worker,
a fast learner and an overall lovely human being, and we’re very lucky to
have her. Come say hi to her at our booth at the Saturday or Thursday Farmers’ Markets.
